Thyroid Protection - Women can go into hypothyroidism fairly easily on low carbohydrate diets. Make sure you are including a good source of selenium in your diet like brazil nuts.
Estrogen Dominance - happens when estrogen is out of balance with progesterone. When this happens, it can lead to stress and increased cellular growth. Make sure you are using paraben free hygiene products and eating organic produce that does not use pesticides. Also avoid hormone treated meats and dairy.
For Women and Men:
Stress protection - over-activation of the HPAA axis can cause glucose to be continuously released by the liver into the blood stream. This will keep you from getting into ketosis and it will keep you from burning fat. Include magnesium in your regimen along with making sure that you are taking in minerals from natural salt. If you've been tested and are close to adrenal burnout, then keto may not be the choice for you.
Once you are adapted into ketosis, limit use of MCT oil and exogenous ketones. The goal is to burn your own fat stores, not extra energy!
The keto diet is NOT magic! It will take time and consistency just like any other diet!
