Black Lives Do Matter: Agreeing With The Sentiment But Not The Organization

I believe that black lives matter. It is a sentiment, I wholeheartedly agree with.

When it comes to the organization, on the other hand, I disagree heavily with their doctrine and their tactics.

If we are to handle the racial issues that have come to the fore over the last few years, we all need to be able to talk to each other and work together.

That will not come to pass if hopes for justice and peace are pinned to a Marxist doctrine with the aim of erasing history and destroying the idea of America.

The Warrior Soul podcast is written, edited, and produced by me, Albert. Our mission is to provide tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas that help The US military veteran community to show up as the wisest, strongest, most capable versions of themselves in the civilian world. If you're not a veteran, stick around because anything we talk about will most certainly apply to you as well. This podcast is made possible with the help of f bomb nutrition. They make delicious packets of fats that you can carry around anywhere with you in little portable packets.

They make macadamia nut butters. They mix them up with chocolate. They mix them up with sea salt. They mix them up with coconut butter. They're absolutely delicious, and they're really good for you.

They don't have any sugar. They also make a lot of cheese snacks. They make meat sticks, and it's just a great company. These guys send packages of this stuff to the troops who are on the front lines overseas to supplement their MREs, and we didn't ask them to do that. They just did that on their own initiative.

Really great company. If you wanna get 20% off your first order of f bombs, head over to www.dropanfbomb.com and use the code Warrior Soul at checkout. This podcast is also brought to you with the help of Save the Brave. Savethebrave.org is a five zero one c three charity for veterans. They run camaraderie events that include fishing, golfing.

They also do a lot of work with gold star families. And unlike a lot of other organizations, their board doesn't take a salary. Really great organization that is doing amazing work. So go and check them out at savethebrave.org. With that, thank you guys so much.

Let's get into today's programming.

This is Chris Albert, and I'm here to remind you of one thing. Someday, you're going to die. Now that's not some morbid statement or scary idea. It's solid fact. Your time here on this earth is limited.

And we need to be reminded of this as much as possible for one simple reason, to live your best life while you can. This is the Warrior Soul podcast.

What is going on, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome to the Warrior Soul podcast. My name is Chris Albert. And today, I wanna talk to you about something that's very important to me, and that is understanding history. You see, today I am recording on 07/03/2020, the day before our Independence Day.

And in this time period that I'm I'm recording this, whether you're listening to it just after I've recorded it or whether you're listening to it twenty years from now, there's been a good bit of turmoil. You see, in the midst of a COVID nineteen pandemic, people have been locked up in their homes for quite a while. Right? Months. There's a lot of people out there who've been out of work for quite a while.

There are also a lot of people who, after being locked up in their homes for months and after undergoing this pandemic, there was a murder, a murder of a man named George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. And the murder was broadcast to the nation. Right? It was a slow, horrible murder. A murder where a man had a knee on his neck for over eight minutes, and that had to be an absolutely horrible death.

And, obviously, people are rightfully enraged. But in the aftermath of that, there has been a lot of moves to switch the goalpost. You see, there's not one person out there that I know of that doesn't believe that the George Floyd murder was wrong. Right? Conservative, liberal, leftist, everybody thinks that this murder was wrong.

The response on the other hand has been given something different. Something something else is occurring, and it has gone from addressing police abuses and the horrible murder of black people, in many cases, at the hands of police officers to creating this movement that not that doesn't just want to address this, but that also wants to address the system that we we live under. You see, there's this idea out there. Right? A statement, black lives matter.

And I wholly wholeheartedly agree with that statement. Black lives do matter. Black lives definitely matter. But the organization that has come up around it, the organization that has taken that name, is not just about black lives mattering. That organization actually has a different motive.

In in every thing that they're doing, they have stated that they are trained Marxists who want to overthrow the system. And that begs the question, is this system itself inherently bad? Is this system itself inherently bad? And I think that question gets answered by a better understanding of history. You see, one of the things that I I have the great benefit of is having many different backgrounds.

I served in the military, but I also went to college. And I didn't just go to college. I went to graduate school, studied political science, obtained my master's degree, studied in a doctoral program. And in that process, I have been able to be friends with some very conservative people, and I have been able to be friends with some people from what you would call the leftist side of things. And what I think people miss out on here is that a lot of people don't necessarily understand history.

What they're given are sound bites. They're given different caricatures of what this country is, what this country is supposed to be. Is this country the perfect place that conservatives would have it? Absolutely not. But is this country the evil empire that liberals or not liberals, I would say liberals still believe in America, but the evil empire that leftists believe it is.

And I would say, absolutely not. You see, a country that has been able to allow people to rise up. If you actually look at history, like, you take a guy like John D. Rockefeller. Right? You take a guy like John D. Rockefeller.

A lot of people look at him as if he was some sort of boogeyman, some sort of monster who took over the oil industry in the nineteenth century and then created this this crazy combination and and created and and basically monopolized that industry and terrorized any of his competitors and all of these different things. But if you look at how he was actually brought up, he was actually very poor when he started out. Right? Very, very poor when he started out. Right?

We also live in a country where, you know, things have been absolutely horrible for many port. There was many many blacks and Irish immigrants and people who were used by that very system that Rockefeller created. Right? And so what you have to understand here is that it's not this this paradise that people talk about, but it's also not this evil place that that or this evil system that people talk of either. It's somewhere in the middle.

And the direction of that system really revolves around all of us, our education, our ability to see the other side, our ability to compromise. And what's going on right now is that people don't wanna compromise. They don't wanna talk to each other. Rather than discussing our history, people want to erase it by pulling down statues. People want to erase it by ending it being taught in our schools to our children.

Universities want to erase it by not talking about it and instead talking about injustice. Right? And if you come at everything with a perspective of injustice, with a perspective where everybody's being given a lower hand or a particular group of people are being constantly pushed down, then you're not looking at things objectively. And then that develops a mentality where you're constantly being pushed down. You feel like you're constantly being pushed down.

It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. You see, I'm not here to justify America to anybody. The record speaks for itself. Without The United States Of America, it's very likely that slavery would have continued. Without The United States Of America, it is very likely that things like Nazism and Bolshevism would have taken over this world.

Without The United States Of America, we wouldn't be at the point we are today where we're actually having debate about these things, where people can actually rise up and protest when they see somebody being killed for wrong reasons. You see, that wouldn't happen in an evil empire. In an evil empire, people would be crushed. They'd be silenced. They'd be put out.

They'd be murdered. Their entire existence would be erased. And that hasn't happened, and it won't happen because that's not America. You see, this country, though not perfect, has always had an ability to change, an ability to develop, an ability to show people the wrongs of their ways. Right?

And, obviously, that always has a cost. We paid it during the civil war. We paid it during the civil rights movement. We are constantly paying for it, and we're paying for it right now. But what it's gonna take for all of us to get beyond this is to talk, to actually hear each other, to listen to each other, and to actually see the other person's side of things.

And that can't happen if all we're doing is pushing each other down and trying to erase history. How do you better yourself through this? You need to read. You need to read about Lincoln. You need to see what he actually went through.

How the the the the immense opposition he had when he was actually trying to create the Emancipation Proclamation. You need to see what he was up against. You need to understand what he was actually up against. And then after you do that, decide whether or not you actually wanna pull that statue of him down. When you think about a man like Teddy Roosevelt and you think about what he faced when he even just had Booker Booker T. Washington over to dinner at the White House, when you see what he was actually up against, when you see the death threats, when you see what the press did to him, then once you understand that, then you decide whether or not you wanna erase his legacy.

And at the same token, what I'll say is this. Think about what black people in America have gone through. Think about what they are constantly dealing with, the fear that they're dealing with. And then think about, you know, if you were in their shoes, would you want a statue of a confederate general or the former confederate president of The United States staring down at you? And maybe there's a compromise there where we could take those statues and we could put them into a museum.

We've got to see things from both sides, and there are a million ways that we could talk, that we could communicate, and we could compromise. But, again, that's not ever going to happen with things being the way they are. If we allow mobs to pull down statues, if we allow mobs to take over city blocks, if we allow our country to descend into the chaos that it's been descending into, then things are just gonna continuously descend. And as I've always said, that's not just up to the government. In a free society, freedom has a cost, and that cost is personal responsibility.

And unless we are taking up the mantle ourselves, unless we are actually doing this as a society, then the government's never going to solve this no matter who's in the White House, who's in the Congress, who's in the Supreme Court. That's all I gotta say, guys. I hope that you have a very happy Independence Day. I hope that you're enjoying it with family. I hope that you are enjoying it with smiles and with friends.

And I hope that those of you who have served this country are enjoying the freedoms that it does provide. Thank you so much. I'll be back at you later on this week with some more awesome content. This is Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast, and I am out.
