You know, one of the things I'm always saying is that if this country is gonna get better, if this country is gonna go on the right path, we have to step up as a community. Veterans are the sleeping giant in this country, and it is time for us to step up. That's why I wanna talk to you about The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Now you might have thought about The Citadel in the past as this corps of cadets, this military institution, but they have programs for veterans that don't involve you joining the corps of cadets, don't involve you wearing a uniform every day, and don't involve you living a military lifestyle. If you wanna do that, great.

But if that's not what you're up for right now after your military career, then you don't have to do that, and you can access some of the best programs in the world. The Citadel has some hot degrees in intelligence, tactical strength and conditioning, engineering, and project management. And there's five student type options for veterans. There's graduate college, there's evening undergraduate, there's active duty students, non cadet day program, returning cadet veterans, and online programs. The academic offerings include undergraduate, graduate, college transfer, graduate certificates, and online degrees.

Veterans have access to every single academic degree the college offers, and they have the most flexibility when it comes to their schedule. They can major in anything offered to the cadets and would take those classes during the day with the cadets. But then there's other programs offered in the evening or online and graduate programs to choose from too to make things so flexible for you. The US World and News report has named the Citadel the number one column for veterans in the South. And for veterans who choose to take classes on campus, they get to be a civilian student in a military environment.

They don't have to wear uniforms, like I said before. They don't have to join the military culture of the corps of cadets. The atmosphere is a really good transition environment from military to civilian life. There's an organic mentorship that comes from taking classes with the cadets. The cadets wanna talk to you guys.

They wanna hear your stories. They wanna know what it was actually like to be in the military. A lot of the a lot of these men and women are gonna go on to serve as officers in the military, and they're gonna exact change. And they need to hear from you guys. They you also get access to The Citadel's alumni network.

Like I said, this is one of the most illustrious institutions in the world. And when you join the Citadel and you graduate, you're part of their alumni network. That includes so many leaders. It includes so many business leaders, so many leaders from the military, and so many leaders from the government. The college's core values of honor, duty, and respect align with veteran culture.

They align with who you are, and it's something that you're not gonna get anywhere else in this country. There is tons of special assistance for veterans at The Citadel. And whether you're a veteran or active duty military personnel, you can take advantage of these programs. You also get access to the veteran student success center, the career center, the academic success center, the student veteran association, and all campus clubs. If you wanna play rugby, you could do that.

If you wanna you wanna lift weights, you could do that. You get access to everything that the students get. There's fellowship opportunities. There's tons and tons of financial assistance. So if you're interested in getting a degree from The Citadel and building your life, head over to citadel.edu/veterans.

This is Chris Albert, and I'm here to remind you of one thing. Someday, you're going to die. And that's not some morbid statement or scary idea. It's solid fact. Your time here on this earth is limited.

And we need to be reminded of this as much as possible for one simple reason, to live your best life while you can. This is the Warrior Soul podcast.

What's going on, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome to the Warrior Soul podcast. My name is Chris Albert, and this is where we deliver tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help The US military veteran community and anybody else willing to listen to live their absolute best lives. We're living in crazy times, ladies and gents. You know, if you look at the news, and I say this a lot, looks like the world's coming to an end.

The end of the world as we know it, people are acting weird, Government's acting weird. Society's acting weird, and we're acting weird. And when you live in a world like this, it is easy to feel like you are trapped somehow. Like, the world is closing in around you. There's all these crazy things happening.

And, like, there's nothing you could do about it. And part of the problem with human psychology is that in our minds, there's a movie going on. And in that movie, each of us is the star of our own movie that's constantly going on in our heads. So when we go through life, we generally go through life feeling like we are the character in some play, some movie, some sitcom, some whatever. And we act as if the world is just happening to us. Right? There's some director out there who's throwing things at us. Right?

You know, hey, here's a pandemic. Right? Hey, here's an economic downturn. Hey, you know, here is this other tragedy that you gotta worry about right now. Right?

And so and you if the funny thing is if you look at Twitter right now or any of the social media outlets and you see the way people describing the problems of the world, they'll they'll generally describe them as if they're happening to them. Right? Like, I saw this this person yesterday who was talking about the tragedy in Colorado and and just acting as if it was happening to her. You know? And I think that I get why human beings act that way.

I get why we all think we're the character of our own movie because I've definitely done that, and I still do that. But one of the things you need to do to not only survive but thrive in this world is to see that for what it is, a fallacy. You see, the end of the day, the world doesn't give a rat's ass about you. It doesn't give a rat's ass about your dreams. It doesn't give a rat's ass about your loved ones.

It doesn't give a flying fuck about anything you care about. It really doesn't. It's it's just the world. It's like a tidal wave. Right?

A tidal wave you're out in on the beach, and a tidal wave is heading towards you. That tidal wave does not care about you. It doesn't care about the people around you. It doesn't care about your future. It doesn't care about your hopes.

It doesn't care about your dreams. That tidal wave by the physical forces that are driving it is just going to drive into that beach, and it is going to destroy whatever it can in its wake. Right? That's not its fault. It's just the way it is.

Right? And and the world is the same way. Right? The world doesn't care about you. It's going to keep going.

Whether you're here or not, right, it does not give a flying rat's ass about you. And that's a good thing. Right? It's a good thing because it literally means that everything you think is happening to you has not really happened that way. Right?

It's nothing's happening to you. Nothing. Right? No tragedy. Nothing is happening to you.

It's just the world. Right? And because of that, that means that you can look out at what's going on in the world, and you could stop thinking, hey, you know what? I'm never gonna get ahead. I can't catch a break.

I can't do this. This world is just too screwed up. This world is just just too awful for me. Right? You could stop doing that.

Right? Because it's untrue. Right? The world is what it is. It's not gonna change because you care.

It's not gonna change if you're not here. It's not going to change regardless. But what you can do is you can look out there at the world, and you could start to learn from it. Right? You'd start to see how things work.

You start to see how other human beings react to things, what they run away from, what they fear, what they love. And you can begin to plan your life in a way that is going to allow you to thrive. You can learn lessons from the shitty things that happen, and not just the shitty things that are happening right now, but from the shitty things that happened in the past. You see, the cool part about being a human being is that you get to learn. Right?

We we write shit down. We record shit. Alright? That's that's how we've been able to get to where we are. That's how civilization's been able to get to where it is because we write down mistakes.

We write down lessons. We write down the past. It's a big reason why I read so much. Reading biographies, reading about other difficult times, difficult eras, and just seeing how people reacted, learning about human nature. That's so important.

But the big thing I want you to understand about everything is this. You're never trapped by the world. The the world isn't there to trap you. Right? You are an active agent in the world.

And if you sit there and and and you do nothing, of course, the world is is just gonna happen to you. Right? That's a a choice you make, though. Right? You make the choice to sit there and watch while the world is going on.

And eventually, you know, like a wild freight train, the world's gonna run into you. Right? Whether it's some sort of disaster, whether it's some sort of tragedy, whether it's it's a health problem and you're, you know, you're not taking care of yourself, something will happen to you eventually if you just sit there and watch. But if you're an active participant, if you're an active agent in the world, if you're watching, you're learning, you're taking action for yourself, moving on your dreams, making things happen, then it's a different story. The world is most certainly happening for you.

It's out there working, and you can learn from it. If you've got your eyes open and you're open minded to changing, to taking action, to doing things, rather than just sitting there on your ass. And so remember guys, at the end of the day, this world does not give a damn about who you are, what you stand for, what you believe in, what you love, what you hate. It doesn't care. All that matters is what you're able to do.

And in order to do things, you've got to be willing to learn and to do. So that's all I got for today, guys. I hope you guys are doing well out there and not letting this world get you down. Get out there and live your best lives while you can. This is Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast, and I am out.
