You know, one of the things I'm always saying is that if this country is gonna get better, if this country is gonna go on the right path, we have to step up as a community. Veterans are the sleeping giant in this country, and it is time for us to step up. That's why I wanna talk to you about The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Now you might have thought about The Citadel in the past as this corps of cadets, this military institution, but they have programs for veterans that don't involve you joining the corps of cadets, don't involve you wearing a uniform every day, and don't involve you living a military lifestyle. If you wanna do that, great.
But if that's not what you're up for right now after your military career, then you don't have to do that, and you can access some of the best programs in the world. The Citadel has some hot degrees in intelligence, tactical strength and conditioning, engineering, and project management. And there's five student type options for veterans. There's graduate college, there's evening undergraduate, there's active duty students, non cadet day program, returning cadet veterans, and online programs. The academic offerings include undergraduate, graduate, college transfer, graduate certificates, and online degrees.
Veterans have access to every single academic degree the college offers, and they have the most flexibility when it comes to their schedule. They can major in anything offered to the cadets and would take those classes during the day with the cadets. But then there's other programs offered in the evening or online and graduate programs to choose from too to make things so flexible for you. The US World and News report has named the Citadel the number one column for veterans in the South. And for veterans who choose to take classes on campus, they get to be a civilian student in a military environment.
They don't have to wear uniforms, like I said before. They don't have to join the military culture of the corps of cadets. The atmosphere is a really good transition environment from military to civilian life. There's an organic mentorship that comes from taking classes with the cadets. The cadets wanna talk to you guys.
They wanna hear your stories. They wanna know what it was actually like to be in the military. A lot of the a lot of these men and women are gonna go on to serve as officers in the military, and they're gonna exact change. And they need to hear from you guys. They you also get access to The Citadel's alumni network.
Like I said, this is one of the most illustrious institutions in the world. And when you join the Citadel and you graduate, you're part of their alumni network. That includes so many leaders. It includes so many business leaders, so many leaders from the military, and so many leaders from the government. The college's core values of honor, duty, and respect align with veteran culture.
They align with who you are, and it's something that you're not gonna get anywhere else in this country. There is tons of special assistance for veterans at The Citadel. And whether you're a veteran or active duty military personnel, you can take advantage of these programs. You also get access to the veteran student success center, the career center, the academic success center, the student veteran association, and all campus clubs. If you wanna play rugby, you could do that.
If you wanna you wanna lift weights, you could do that. You get access to everything that the students get. There's fellowship opportunities. There's tons and tons of financial assistance. So if you're interested in getting a degree from The Citadel and building your life, head over to citadel.edu/veterans.
This is Chris Albert, and I'm here to remind you of one thing. Someday, you're going to die. And that's not some morbid statement or scary idea. It's solid fact. Your time here on this earth is limited.
And we need to be reminded of this as much as possible for one simple reason, to live your best life while you can. This is the Warrior Soul podcast.
What's going on, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome to the Warrior Soul podcast. My name is Chris Albert. This is where we deliver tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help The US military veteran community and anybody else willing to listen to live their absolute best lives. You know, I came in this morning and and came in an hour early to work to to be able to do this show, and that's the way it had has had to be over the last few months.
Right? It used to be that when I worked from home, I could work on the show whenever I wanted to, but but now I have to wake up a couple hours earlier. I have to get ready. I have to take care of my responsibilities at home, then I gotta come in here. Got about a fifteen minute commute.
I gotta get to the office at least an hour early, if not ninety minutes early. And then I gotta sit here, and I've gotta create for all of you. And a few weeks ago, I found myself getting weak, you know, in my mind starting to complain about it a little bit, in my mind starting to to be like, well, why do I have to keep doing this? You know, why do I have to keep putting myself through all this extra work? Right?
I'm making money. I'm doing something right now. I'm I'm I'm better than I've ever been. Why do I have to keep doing this podcast? And then I caught myself.
I caught myself because it dawned on me. You know, I have to do this podcast because I wanna do it. Because it's the one thing in my life that I've created that that I took responsibility for to deliver in a message to this community, to to motivate this community, to educate this community, to to push this community forward. And if I ever give up on this, I'm not just giving up on the podcast. I'm giving up on me.
I'm giving up on my core values. I'm giving up my honor as a person, as a man, as somebody who said he was gonna do something. And so rather than complaining about, know, not having the time, rather than rather than sitting here and worrying about how much I gotta do, I gotta take a step back, and I gotta look at this as an honor. You know what? A year and a half ago, I was fucking starving.
I had no fucking money. I did not know where my next paycheck was coming from. I did not know what the hell I was gonna do. I I was failing at business. I was failing in my my relationship.
I was failing at life. And then God comes along, and he he blesses me with a job. He blesses me with an amazing pay scale. He blesses me with responsibility. You know, I lead over 30 people in this factory that I work in right now.
I have over 30 employees. I was praying for that a year and a half ago, the opportunity to lead. He blesses me with the opportunity to speak to this community, a community that I love. And I'm sitting back, and I'm on a I'm an ungrateful son of a bitch sitting here worrying about how I don't have enough time. Gotta go out and make time.
And that's the thing, ladies and gentlemen. One of the problems that we have in our lives is that, you know, when we don't have any responsibility, we sit back and we wonder why we haven't been given it. We wonder why we haven't been made leaders. We wonder why when we got out of the military, nobody came up and handed us a 6 figure job. We wonder why nobody came up and said, hey.
You know what? You deserve this. And the reason is because we don't. You know, think about it. Whenever you get busy, what do you do?
What do you do in your mind? You start freaking out. You start freaking out. Alright? Guess what?
You're blessed to be busy. You're blessed to be busy. If you if you're a parent, you got kids right now, you're going to work, you you you put money into your bank account, guess what? You're blessed. You're blessed.
I would love to have children. Right? I would love to have children. I would love to have a son. I would love to have a daughter.
I'd love to have two little kids running around. But guess what? I also know that if I actually did have them running around, I'd be crazy just like you. But guess what? I don't have your perspective as a parent.
I want that in my life. And at one point, you did too. And if you didn't have them, think about what your life would be like. Think about what you would want if you didn't have your family. Right?
What would that do to you? Right, if they weren't there? If you were blessed with the responsibility, the honor of being a parent, what would that do to you? Right? You gotta turn this around in your mind.
Right? If think about your job right now. Right? No matter how much you hate it, if you didn't have it, what would you be doing? Right?
What would you be doing? What would you be doing in terms of money? Right? What would you be doing in terms of trying to put food on the table? Right?
Maybe you're trying to start a business right now. Maybe it's hard. Maybe it's difficult. Right? If you didn't have that in your life, if you didn't have that dream, right, what would that be like?
Right? What would that be like? Would you wake up every morning wanting to do something else? Right? I don't think so.
You gotta turn this stuff around. You gotta change it from, oh my god, I'm cursed to look at all the blessings I have in my life. Look at what God has given me. Look at what he's been bestowed upon me as a person. Right?
And that's a commitment that I'm trying to make with myself right now. And I'm not coming at y'all like I'm perfect. I wake up every morning, and I'm like, oh my god. You know? Thank you, god, for all this stuff.
There there's times in my mind where I'm weak. It happens a lot, but I'm catching myself. We all gotta catch ourselves through this. Alright? We look out at the news right now, and and I'm constantly seeing things on the news about woke America and woke this, woke that.
Let them be woke. Let them let them complain. Let them them continue to to to do what they're doing, and you continue to work. You continue to make yourself better. Because eventually, things will turn back toward meritocracy.
And those who've worked through this, those who've pushed through this, those who've who've forced themselves regardless of your race, creed, color, sex, gender, whatever it is, those of you who've pushed and worked through all this bullshit that's going on right now, you come out on top. That's why I always say the veteran community were the silent, silent giant in this country, the sleeping giant. When we wake up, there's gonna be a huge change in this country. And we gotta keep waking up. We gotta keep working.
We gotta keep pushing. So that's all I got for today, ladies and gents. I hope that makes sense to you. I hope that you're doing well with your life, whatever you're doing, and I hope that you come to a point where you can wake up every day no matter where you're at and see life as a blessing. It's Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast, and I am out.
