What is going on, guys? Welcome to yet another edition of the Warrior Soul podcast. I haven't talked about this in a while, but I just wanna reiterate the mission here. The mission is to empower The US military veteran community to live their best lives by instilling tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas, bringing those to the show every week, three times a week, sometimes with somebody who's a lot more accomplished and more experienced than I am. And sometimes, it's just me speaking to a microphone in a room by myself.

But one way or another, that's what we're delivering here three times a week. The goal here is to awaken the sleeping giant in this country, The US military veteran community. Those of us who know what it's like to lead, but maybe we've let ourselves slip a little bit. Maybe we've let ourselves take a backseat to what's going on in the world and what's going on in our own lives. And what I'm trying to get you guys to do is to say, you know what?

I'm gonna take over the steering wheel in my own life. I am going to take advantage of everything that this awesome, wonderful country has to offer, And I'm gonna build myself up so that I can then have an impact on others, on my community, on my family, and on my country, not necessarily in that order. I think family's first there. But we've all gotta step up, and that's the point. And one of the things I'm reading about right now because over the past year or two, I've been on a binge read of a lot of biographies.

I just finished up two biographies about Teddy Roosevelt, and I'm starting a book right now about Churchill. It's Andrew Roberts Churchill. It's a very large volume, and I'm not all the way through it yet. But one of the chapters I've just gone through is about his childhood. And you gotta think, you know, of all the things that Churchill did.

Right? Leading his country during World War two, but even before that, overcoming some catastrophic failures at the beginning of World War one. Right? And and never losing faith in himself. Right?

He he caused a major catastrophic military failure at Gallipoli in World War one, and he did not let that deter him from his path in life. Right?

And you gotta think, what goes into making a guy like Churchill? Somebody who wasn't financially solvent until he was 72 years old. Right? Who, you know, didn't know how to dial a phone until he was seven in his seventies, but whom also had this amazing ability to lead and to inspire confidence in the country of The United Kingdom. And you gotta wonder what what went into making a guy like that.

And one of the things in his book that they talk about with Churchill is that he had supreme confidence in himself because of his lineage. Right? They talk about the fact that, you know, his father was very famous, his grandfather was very famous, his great great great grandfather was very famous. They had major impacts on English history. Churchill saw himself as being a descendant of that impact.

In fact, from a very young age, he was telling people that someday England would be attacked and that he would lead the defense of England. He would lead its defense. He had that confidence in himself from a very young age. And that confidence in himself, that ability to trust himself even when others lost trust in him, Well, that is probably one of the things that made Churchill Churchill. And, you know, I know what you're thinking right now.

Well, he had that lineage. He has that self confidence. He had it in him. But I don't have any self confidence right now. And I'm here to tell you, and I'm gonna try and kind of bridge the gap between us and Churchill, is that I've been in your shoes.

I've been in positions where I had absolutely no confidence in myself. And in fact, I've been in positions where I was starting to lose confidence even in the things that that I was very confident about at one time. You know, last year, I was going through a lot. I had this disease, the ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease that was tearing my body apart. You know, up to that point, I had so much confidence in myself based off of my self image, right?

I was a bodybuilder, a power lifter. I used to take videos of myself lifting massive amounts of weight. I had a good amount of muscle on my body. And then systematically, that got stripped off to the point where I was down 155. And I was no longer strong.

I was no longer the physical specimen that I thought at once was. And I began losing confidence not only there, but in other places. I stopped taking risks in my business. I stopped even really attempting to grow my business because I thought that I was destined to failure. I stopped putting effort into my relationship, stopped talking with my significant other.

And in fact, you know, in my mind, looking back on it now, I was kind of preparing to die. And when you go through something like that, you start to see all the cards stacked up against you. And what you don't see are the opportunities that are right in front of your face, opportunities that could easily move you one step forward. So what am I trying to tell you here? You might not have Churchill's lineage.

You might not have that kind of self confidence that he had, but that is something that can be built. And it gets built by, number one, making yourself aware of the opportunities around you. Right? You've got to kind of open up your eyes because when you're in a really bad state, you get tunnel vision. And what you got to do is you got to take a step back.

Right? Step back from the stresses. Right? Step back from from the thing that's that's causing you the most pain. And what you got to do is you got to pull out a pen and a piece of paper, and you got to write down all the different things you can do.

And try to do this very clinically. Right? And I know that this is very difficult because we're emotional human beings, and we attach emotion to everything that we do. But you got to think of all the different things that you could potentially do. Right?

Can if you're if you're down on money, what are the things that you could do to earn money? If your relationship sucks, why does it suck? If you're down on money, why are you down on money? Are you spending your money on on stupid shit? Right?

Take a good look at your accounts. Right? If you aren't where you wanna be physically, think about why. Right? What are you eating?

What are you putting in your body? What are you are you getting enough exercise? Are you lifting weights? Are you practicing martial arts? Are you you doing the things that you should should be doing?

And then from there, alright, that's not necessarily gonna make you more confident, But what is gonna make you more confident are the actions you take to remedy those problems once you identify them. Right? The actions you take to remedy those problems once you identify them. Because major part of the problem is that most of us don't ever identify the the the the root problem in the first place. Right?

We sit there and we think, oh, my life sucks right now. Oh, this is horrible. Oh, I can't I can't even think about continuing this way. Right? But what we don't think about is what are the things we're doing to put ourselves in that situation?

Because at the end of the day, it is us. Right? It is us. There's not some, you know, super being up there with a magnifying glass, you know, shining light on us like we're ants and trying to burn us. It's it's us.

We do this to ourselves. We're the ones who go out and overeat. We're the ones who go out and spend our money. We're the ones who don't invest the things we need to in our relationships. And with that simple two step thing, right, identifying the problems in your life, and then identifying the potential solutions.

And then a third thing, is taking action on those solutions. That's how you get out of it. Alright? And I know that sounds so simple, and I know it's way more difficult to do than what I'm talking about, but it is literally the only way. The alternatives are to sit here for the rest of our lives complaining or to try to numb ourselves from the problems by doing things like drugs or or porn or or alcohol or any of the other crap that we try to numb ourselves with.

And then choice is always yours. You could either take action to change your life or you can exist in the life that you hate. And I want you guys to be taking action. Because if you do if you do, everything you want is beyond that pain point, beyond that point to where you say, I am gonna sit here on my ass or I'm gonna take action. Everything you want is beyond that decision if you do take action.

So that's what I got for this week, guys. I hope you're all doing well. I'll be back at you later on this week with some more awesome content. This is Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast, and and I am out.
