And this is Chris Palmitessa. I'm coming at you with another episode of the Warrior Soul podcast. If you haven't been here before, this podcast seeks to deliver tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help The US military veteran community and anybody else willing to listen to live their absolute best lives. And I'm doing this podcast for, I think, almost seven years now, man. It's been it's been a long time.
I've done a lot of episodes. I've interviewed a lot of people. A lot of the times I'm here, I am, interviewing people who are much smarter than I am, who are bringing their knowledge to the veteran community. That's what this show is about, bringing tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help US military veteran community to live their best lives. But sometimes I come on here to talk myself.
And when I do that, it is not because I know anything better than any of you. I actually have made a lot of mistakes in my life. And and when I do these episodes, a lot of times it's because I'm trying to get you guys to learn from some of the mistakes I've made. I'm 43 years old. I've been homeless before.
I've been broke most of my life. I grew up poor. But, you know, I served in the military and and, you know, I'm making it in this life. I'm I'm turning this life into what I what I want it to be. Alright?
And I'm doing it through a lot of hard work, a lot of effort, and I'm trying to bring you guys along on the journey with me. You know, where I'm at right now, I moved to Florida about two years ago, and it's been a great move for me. California just wasn't good for me in general. I lived there for fifteen years, grew up on the East Coast, then moved out there, you know, with California dreams in my mind. But, you know, it just wasn't good for me.
And I think a lot about, you know, why it wasn't good for me. And I can go through a lot of excuses, right? Like, a lot of us complain about California, right? How how LA is is this, and San Francisco is that, and, you know, it's so expensive to be there, and and, you know, and and and and and, all these excuses that I come up with, right? And, you know, I will say I've been I've been a lot more successful down here in Florida, you know, I run a a company, I run a manufacturing company, I own real estate here, which I never thought would be a possibility for me.
But the reason I thought it would never be a possibility, and that's what I really wanna get into is that, you know, never never put any thought into how I could actually make it possible. I always said, you know, it's never gonna happen for me. I said, you know, I'm never gonna own a house. Right? I'm never gonna have, you know, more than $10,000 in my bank account.
I'm never gonna have, you know, a wife, a family that loves me. I'm never gonna have that opportunity because I told myself that I'd screwed up so freaking badly that it was never gonna be a possibility for me. So you know what? I stopped trying, right? I did things, right?
I had businesses, I created this podcast in the process, right? I did a lot of good things. But I never put my mind toward how I could actually advance myself. And I see that so much in this community, you know, there's so many of you out there who are such smart individuals, such intelligent individuals, such capable individuals. People who are much younger than I am.
Right? Some of you are still in your twenties, but you sit there like your old grizzled men who, you know, wasted away your lives and now there's no more opportunity for you. So you just settle into whatever you're settling into. And what that speaks to is a lack of psychological awareness. Right?
Because, look, this country's got its imperfections, gas is fucking a mile high right now, inflation is is is eating at us, and we could sit here and we could complain about it all day, or we can go out and we can take what's given to us and try our best to not only survive in this world, but also to thrive. You know, there's so many of you out there who have business ideas in the back of your heads, alright, who have ideas that you never pulled the trigger on. Well, why haven't you pulled the trigger on it? Is it because you you it's it's truly impossible for you? Or is it because you haven't figured out what the very first step is yet?
Right? A lot of you haven't even taken that first step. Right? Like, that's the problem. Because when you're you're trying to do something difficult, and anything worth doing in this life is difficult, don't get me wrong.
But what we do is we say, oh, I wanna do that someday, but we never take that very first step. And the thing about it is this, once you take that first step toward doing it, a whole new world opens up for you. Because once you take that first step, then you're looking for the second. Right? Then you're looking for the third.
And you don't really know what actually needs to be done until you start doing it. And you don't know whether or not it's gonna be possible for you until you actually start doing you know? And here's the thing, I've had a million doors slammed in my face, right? I've I've tried to get mortgages before and and the originator told me it just wasn't gonna happen, right? You know, when I was trying to buy, the first time I was trying to buy real estate, the originator told me that it wasn't gonna happen, and guess what I did?
I I did nothing. I said, oh well, you know, it's not gonna be a possibility for me, so I gotta figure out something else. But what I didn't ask him was, well what are the problems that I can solve? Right? How do I fix my credit?
Right? What what are the outstanding debts that I have that I can go and and and start working toward paying? Right? And it took years for me to figure that out because I never asked the question. You know, and that's what you really gotta do is you gotta get out there, you gotta start, and then you gotta be asking the relevant questions.
Right? And maybe it's not real estate, maybe it's it's, you know, you pursuing a dream. Maybe it's you trying to get into a certain career, or maybe it's you trying to open up a certain business, or or maybe you're just trying to figure out how to talk to a female that you like. Right? None of none of it's ever gonna happen until you take a chance, until you actually research what that first step is, till you take measures to accomplish that first step.
None of that's ever gonna happen until you do it. So that's my message for you guys this week. You know, if you've been putting something off, if there's something out there that you've been dying to do but just haven't or haven't thought it'd be a possibility for you, just take one step. Alright? Take one step.
Figure out what the first step is and take it. And then look for that second step. And then keep going, you know? That's what this life is about. Nothing's gonna land in your lap.
Nothing is going to friggin' be done for you. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is coming to save you. Nobody is coming to save you. You've gotta do it yourself. Alright.
That's all I got for this week, guys. You know, if you're looking to keep up with me, I have multiple Instagram pages up right now. I've got the Warrior Soul Agoge, that's my classic page. I've also got my comedy page. I started stand up comedy this last year.
