What's going on, ladies and gents? Welcome to the Warrior Soul podcast. My name is Chris Albert, and this podcast is where we deliver tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help The US military veteran community and anybody else willing to listen to live their absolute best lives. Today is Thursday, 12/16/2021. We only got two weeks left in this year, and we're gonna be heading into 2022.

And it has been a crazy couple of years. Right? So we've got this COVID nineteen thing going on. We've got massive political division out there. You know, there's certain things you can't talk about.

We've also, you know, had this going on for a little bit longer than COVID nineteen's been going on. Right? Probably the last five, six years, things have been more and more increasingly divisive. Right? A lot of us feel like the government and certain other organizations are taking a massive step toward intervening in our lives and keeping us from being free.

And one of the things I'm here to tell you is this, if that's something that bothers you, if that's something that scares you, there's a lot you could do about it. There's a lot in your lives that you can control. And what you gotta understand about this is that if you don't take charge of those areas of your life that you can control, what's gonna happen is the world, and by world, I mean everything that pisses you off, the world is gonna step in and it's gonna try and take control from you. Right? If you are not taking care of your body, if you're not taking care of your mind, if you're not taking care of your financial situation, if you're not living up to your responsibilities, that is when the world comes in and decides your life for you, and that is when you lit you end up being in a place where you didn't ever wanna be in the first place.

Right? And that doesn't matter if you're rich or poor. Right? It it it tends to happen more to people who are less financially savvy, but it it it can happen to anybody. You could be the richest person in the world, and you can end up living in a life you never wanted because you started doing things to please other people.

You started, you know, spending your money frivolously on trash that that's putting you into debt. Right? And if you've if you've got money, it's almost easier to get yourself into one of those situations than if you don't. Trust me. I've I've been poor and I've had money.

And and the freest I ever was was when I was homeless and living out of my car. Right? Had nothing, no one to please, nothing to to to live up to. I just had a desire to get myself out of that situation, and I did everything I could to get out of it. Right?

But I really wanna talk to you about those things that you can control because it's so important. It starts with your body. Right? If you are not taking care of your body, if you're not taking care of your basic health, eating good food, exercising, treating your body like a temple, at some point, you were going to come to a point in your life where you are trapped in your own body. Your body will become a prison.

We see that all the time. We see that with obese people. We see that with people who are suffering from diabetes. We see that from people who can't move because they haven't exercised properly, and they don't have the mobility, then they can't they can't climb up a flight of stairs, or they can't go on a hike, or they can't play with their kids because they can't move. Right?

You don't want that. Most of you are younger than I am. I'm 42. Most of you are in your your mid to late twenties, early thirties. Even if you're in your forties or fifties like me, well, I'm in my forties, not my fifties.

Even if you're you're around those ages, you could still take charge of your life and you could still improve your mobility. You can still improve the function of your body by eating better, by exercising. Right? It doesn't take much. You don't need a gym membership.

You get a couple of dumbbells. You get a kettlebell. You could do work twenty minute workouts every day. Right? You could stretch.

Right? You could go walking. If you you've got it in, you can go running. Right? You can choose not to put the sugar in your body.

You could choose not to put massive amounts of alcohol in your body. You could choose not to smoke cigarettes. You could choose all of those things. And every choice you make there is gonna add up. And that way when you're older, right, and you're you're you're coming up in your years, you're not living a miserable life where you're trapped.

Right? That's the future talking to you. Right? The future is, you know, what kind of life do you wanna live for the rest of your life? Think about it.

Right? If you're if you're 70 years old, do you wanna be one of those people who gives up? Do you wanna be one of those people who sits in a chair and says, oh, I don't feel like doing that today? Not me. I wanna be out there.

I wanna be fishing. I wanna be hiking. I wanna be hunting. I wanna be freaking cruising around the city. I wanna be exploring things that I haven't been able to see that I couldn't afford to see when I was younger.

Right? That I didn't have time to see when I was younger. That's how I wanna spend my older years. I hope you do too. Right?

Because that is where the zest of life comes from. Right? Being able to do those things. Right? You know, I used to think that when I got out of the military, I was never gonna run again.

I was never gonna be active again. Right? I used to tell myself that, and that was stupid. Right? Because I got to a point where I felt like crap.

I got to a point where disease started racking my body with this autoimmune disease that I have, and it is not fun. There is never a point. If you are a man, if you are somebody who has taken pride in who you are, there there should never be a point in your life where you give up ever, ever. Right? Now there's another way we all become trapped.

We become trapped because of a lack of resources and a lack of resourcefulness. Right? A lack of resources and a lack of resourcefulness. A lot of us out here are trapped by money. We don't have enough of it.

In fact, we owe too much of it. Right? We're we find ourselves in debt. That happens because we buy a lot of trash. And the thing is, you know, we know the cost of living is going up.

We know what's happening with inflation. One of the things you really need to make an effort to do is to decrease the footprint in which you are living your financial life. Now that means not living beyond your means. If you're out there and, you know, you're making a basic income and you're out there partying every weekend and you're out there spending your money on crap that you don't really need, if you're out there buying things that are gonna lose their value the second you buy them, you know, where are you gonna find yourself in ten years? Right?

Are you gonna be in a place where you wanna be? Are you gonna be working a job you don't wanna work just so you could survive? That's a big thing. We always talk about, oh, you know, go pursue your dreams. Go pursue this.

Go pursue that. And, yeah, you gotta put work in to pursue those dreams. But if you're doing other things that are are gonna take away from your financial livelihood, well, you you might as well kill those dreams. You're gonna be ending up doing something that you don't wanna do just to make a buck. Right?

That's not coal. That's stupid. Right? There there is no such thing as as slavery in the modern day. We put ourselves into slavery by freaking, you know, putting those chains of debt on ourselves.

Right? You got credit cards, start paying them off. Right? Get them down to zero. Pay them off, Use them.

Right? You want you want points on those credit cards, use them, but then pay them down every month. Don't give those bastards a fucking interest money. That's so stupid. Right?

Pay it down to zero every month so they don't make a dime off interest. Right? Use your VA loan, right, to to to freaking buy yourself a house because you can actually make money off of a house. That's the best thing I ever did for myself. Right?

Bought a house for no money down. I live in that house, then we rent part of it out. And it's awesome because I got my mortgage paid for. Right? I don't have to worry about that.

I'm able to save tons and tons of money. And if you're looking for resources for how to do that, check out my boy, Marcion Sytch. He's got a Facebook page called Active Duty Passive Income. They're teaching veterans how to do that all the time. Right?

I have no involvement with them. I don't make any money off of them. It's just a really great resource that this community could use. Right? You've gotta be able to put yourself in a good financial situation if you wanna do all that other shit.

Alright? Final thing is this, Don't give up on yourself. Right? Don't give up on yourself mentally. Right?

You could still be everything you've always wanted to be. Right? The military should be one of the greatest things you did in your life. It shouldn't be the only thing. And if you haven't served in the military, well, you know, don't think that what you've done in your past determines where you're going in the future.

Right? You can't just sit there and say, oh, I've been this or I've done this, and and this is my life now. You gotta have a plan for where you wanna go. You gotta figure out how to create a beachhead. Yeah.

You gotta earn a basic income. You gotta be able to live. But if you've got something else you're working on, something else you wanna do, something else that that that you wanna contribute to this world, figure out how you can make it possible. Don't think, hey, I can't do this right now. Think about how can I do this?

Change that line of thinking. How can I make this possible? How can I make it happen? Alright? What are the things I need to do?

Who are the people I gotta know? That's a big one because so many of us, we sit here in isolation. Right? And we we we think that we're just gonna make it happen with ourselves. You know, most of the things, the great things that you could do in this life, they involve other people.

You need good people in your life. You need people in your life who are gonna put you in the proper direction. You need people who are gonna help advise you. You need people who are gonna help to to make you into the person you need to become. Because if you just isolate yourself, what happens is you're just there with your own thoughts.

You don't have anybody critiquing you. You don't have anybody offering you good advice. You don't have anybody who's gonna try and sharpen you. Right? And you end up going out into the world with a with a dull blade just thinking that that you're the shit.

And then when the world shows you differently, well, that's when you start getting disappointed, and that's where you you start to curl back. You know, these are all things that I've I've just learned from a very hard and difficult life. You know, you guys have been listening to me for the past six years. You know that there's been a good bit of struggle in in this story, and it hasn't been easy. And there's definitely been points in time where I wasn't where I wanted to be.

And what I try to use this show is is a way of of saving you a lot of that pain. Because I know some of you out there are hurting right now, and I know a lot of you out there are trying to figure out some solutions. And a lot of times, it just takes having somebody, you know, who who who has some different insight to to shed some light on the path. You know? Holidays are a hard time, guys.

Hard time for for a lot of people in this community, hard time for for a lot of people outside of the community. But the biggest thing to remember is this, we're here. We're here for a reason. And that reason is for us to live the best lives we can while we're here. You don't get forever on Earth.

You only get a little bit of time, and you might as well make the most of it while you can. This is Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast. I love you all. Get out there and live your best lives while you can, and I am out.
