You know, one of the things I'm always saying is that if this country is gonna get better, if this country is gonna go on the right path, we have to step up as a community. Veterans are the sleeping giant in this country, and it is time for us to step up. That's why I wanna talk to you about The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Now you might have thought about The Citadel in the past as this corps of cadets, this military institution, but they have programs for veterans that don't involve you joining the corps of cadets, don't involve you wearing a uniform every day, and don't involve you living a military lifestyle. If you wanna do that, great.
But if that's not what you're up for right now after your military career, then you don't have to do that, and you can access some of the best programs in the world. The Citadel has some hot degrees in intelligence, tactical strength and conditioning, engineering, and project management. And there's five student type options for veterans. There's graduate college, there's evening undergraduate, there's active duty students, non cadet day program, returning cadet veterans, and online programs. The academic offerings include undergraduate, graduate, college transfer, graduate certificates, and online degrees.
Veterans have access to every single academic degree the college offers, and they have the most flexibility when it comes to their schedule. They can major in anything offered to the cadets and would take those classes during the day with the cadets. But then there's other programs offered in the evening or online and graduate programs to choose from too to make things so flexible for you. The US World and News report has named the Citadel the number one column for veterans in the South. And for veterans who choose to take classes on campus, they get to be a civilian student in a military environment.
They don't have to wear uniforms, like I said before. They don't have to join the military culture of the Corps of Cadets. The atmosphere is a really good transition environment from military to civilian life. There's an organic mentorship that comes from taking classes with the cadets. The cadets wanna talk to you guys.
They wanna hear your stories. They wanna know what it was actually like to be in the military. A lot of the... A lot of these men and women are gonna go on to serve as officers in the military, and they're gonna exact change. And they need to hear from you guys.
They... You also get access to The Citadel's alumni network. Like I said, this is one of the most illustrious institutions in the world. And when you join the Citadel and you graduate, you're part of their alumni network. That includes so many leaders.
It includes so many business leaders, so many leaders from the military, and so many leaders from the government. The college's core values of honor, duty, and respect align with veteran culture. They align with who you are, and it's something that you're not gonna get anywhere else in this country. There is tons of special assistance for veterans at The Citadel. And whether you're a veteran or active duty military personnel, you can take advantage of these programs.
You also get access to the veteran student success center, the career center, the academic success center, the student veteran association, and all campus clubs. If you wanna play rugby, you could do that. If you wanna you wanna lift weights, you could do that. You get access to everything that the students get. There's fellowship opportunities.
There's tons and tons of financial assistance. So if you're interested in getting a degree from The Citadel and building your life, head over to citadel.edu/veterans.
This is Chris Albert, and I'm here to remind you of one thing. Someday, you're going to die. Now that's not some morbid statement or scary idea. It's solid fact. Your time here on this earth is limited.
And we need to be reminded of this as much as possible with one simple reason, to live your best life while you can. This is the Warrior Soul podcast.
What's going on, ladies and gentlemen? Welcome to the Warrior Soul podcast. My name is Chris Albert, and this is where we deliver tools, tactics, strategies, and ideas to help you, The US military veteran community, and anybody else willing to listen to live their absolute best lives. You know, today, what I wanna talk about is your most valuable asset. The the the thing that you have in your life that's more valuable than anything, and it's not money.
It's not money. It's not anything material. It's not anything you can actually touch, But it's something that has a high degree of control on your life, and that's your time. How you're spending your time, that will determine the course of your life. And when we think about it, we we spend so much time on things that don't help us.
Right? We spend time worrying. We spend time mindlessly watching TV. We spend time, you know, just doing things that aren't pushing us forward. Right?
And I'm not telling you, hey. You know, you can't come home and watch Netflix, you know, for an hour a day to to ease your mind. I do that. And I'm not telling you, hey. You know, you can't go watch football for a little bit or or do anything that's gonna gonna, you know, be leisure.
I'm not saying you have to be on all the time, but I am saying that you have to be conscious of the amount of time you're giving certain things. And, you know, if you actually take a step back and you look at your day and how you're spending each minute, I'm pretty sure you'll be surprised. You know, we we keep track of our money. Most of us do. Right?
We keep track of where we're putting our money. We we don't wanna spend it on any frivolous or useless items. But we'll think nothing of opening up our phone, looking on Instagram, and scrolling for thirty to forty minutes. Or TikTok. Right?
I I had to erase TikTok from my phone. I was new to it. But what I figured out about TikTok was that that it's highly addictive. Right? You...
You're going through those videos, and there's one right after the other, and they're all about a certain topic. And and you wanna sit there, and you wanna you wanna just watch. Right? And you can waste an hour. Right?
An hour. And the thing is, we don't think anything of it. Right? We don't have that same feeling of loss as if we lost $500 per se. But yet we still sit there, and we still scroll, and we still waste that time.
So, you know, the big thing about this is that most of you are still young. Right? Most of you are younger than I am. I know this because I get the stats of the show. Right?
I know what the age groups who who who listen, and most of you are somewhere in your twenties or thirties. And most of you probably think, hey, I'm I'm old already. And the d... And I thought that too. When I hit 25, I was like, man, I am such an old man.
But you're not. You're not. And that's something I've figured out. You know, I wish I could be 30 again. I wish I could be 35 again.
I wish I could be 38 again. Right? But you can't get that back. You can't go back to a time and place where you were younger. Right?
You're as young as you are ever going to be right now. Every minute, every second that goes by that's in the present, you are younger than you are ever gonna be again. Think about that. Right? And yet, we sit here and we waste our energy, We waste our life force, and we waste our time.
So what do you need to do? Well, one, you need to start planning. How are you gonna utilize this time that you have, this gift that you have, this presence you have on this earth, the breath that you have left in your life force? How are you gonna utilize them? Alright?
Think about that. Think about what's important to you. What are you gonna prioritize? Then make some time for those priorities. Make some time for those dreams that you have.
Right? Spend a little bit of time on it each day. And again, I'm not saying, hey, you've gotta beat balls to the wall every single minute, but think about it. Think about how you're gonna be utilizing that time. Right?
Schedule yourself out. Create blocks of time, blocks of time to go after the things that are gonna be important to you, that are gonna move you forward so that you can use your time here on this earth that's so finite. Right? And schedule time not only for those things that are pushing you forward, but also for the emotional things that you need to be human. Alright?
Spend some time with your wife, with your kids, spend some time with your family. Alright? Pass knowledge on. Pass love along. Alright?
There... There's only a certain amount of things that that we have in this life that make us truly human. Right? Love is one of those things. Right?
And if you're not giving that to your children, you're not giving that to your spouse, then again, that's just wasted energy. Right? And plan this stuff out each day. Alright? Toward the end of the day, plan out your next day.
Each Sunday, sit down for an hour, plan out your week. Each month, sit down for another hour, plan out what you wanna get done that month. Right? Every ninety days, think about how you're gonna plan out your quarter. Right?
A good book you guys can check out that I am reading right now. It's called The Twelve Week Year, and it's about how you can plan out a year's worth of goals in twelve weeks. Alright? And it's by Brian P. Moran and Michael Lennington.
It's a great book, and one of the reasons why it's great is because, you know, if you think about how we plan out our years, it it leaves too much variable time. Right? Leaves too much variable. Right? We we we plan out this year, and it's too long of a period for us to even consider what's gonna happen in the next six months.
Right? But if you plan out twelve weeks, that's... That that actually shortens up that cycle a bit, and it gives you a little bit little bit more of an impetus to take action. Alright? So check that book out, start planning, and stop wasting your time.
Get out there and live your best lives while you can. This is Chris Albert with the Warrior Soul podcast, and I am out.
